Minnesota Wild Fan Warns Rick Rypien That He, Too, Is Going To Lawyer Up
James Engquist, the 28-year-old who was "grabbed" by Canucks forward Rick Rypien last night, told the Star Tribune that he is "seeking legal representation" because he was "assaulted, that's just the bottom line." What a day for lawyering up!
The NHL announced today that, pending an upcoming hearing, Rypien has been suspended "indefinitely" for last night's altercation. Engquist is not to blame for the incident, but he is certainly getting a wee bit dramatic in his account of what Sports Center has thoughtfully deemed "a pretty aggressive grab."
"I was just standing straight up applauding as he was getting kicked out.," Engquist told Michael Russo. He continued:
"And then I said, ‘Way to be professional,' and he obviously didn't care for that comment and decided to grab me and almost dragged me over the rail. If my brother wasn't grabbing me and the other player wasn't grabbing him, he probably would have dragged me over the edge."
Well, perhaps. But let's all take note that James admits here that he passive aggressively insulted someone who is definitely pretty aggressive and who was wearing sharp blades on his feet. Maybe, you know, don't do that next time. [ Russo's Rants]
