J.R. Smith's Debut As A Cavalier Was Only Fun For J.R. Smith
J.R. Smith shared his mindset before his first game with the Cavaliers Wednesday night: "When in doubt, shoot the ball." He missed all five of his shots in 18 minutes as Cleveland lost to the Rockets, 105-93.
In the pregame shootaround, this probably should have been an omen:
That Vine is perfect, though. Smith's last accomplishment—Sixth Man of the Year—displayed, as the announcer talking about him escaping the hellhole of the Knicks and recapturing what made him good, and he gets two balls thrown at him.
Ideally, the Cavs could use a dangerous three-point shooter off the bench. Realistically, well, Smith told you what he wants to do. LeBron's return might help Smith take quality shots or get better looks. But he has to know where he stands in the list of shot options, right? For humor's sake, let's hope he doesn't.
