In the top of the ninth inning this evening, Hyun Soo Kim came in the game for the Orioles as a pinch hitter, replacing Nolan Reimold. The Orioles were down by a run to the Blue Jays, and hadn’t managed to do much of anything on offense. But Kim turned everything around with a big, game-winning dinger. The Korean TV call on it is very good.

Kim’s entire at-bat was impressive, especially for a pinch hitter amid a slump. Facing a 2-2 count, he fouled off a high fastball, then another high fastball, then a changeup outside, before finally getting something over the middle of the plate, which he pounced on and sent to the bullpen.

In short, Kim played like a man who deserves his own theme song tonight.
