Deadspin I-Team: Who Is The Shrieking Spurs Fan?
Last night's Warriors-Spurs double-OT thriller was exciting, but many fans at home struggled to fully integrate themselves into the game experience thanks to a shrill Spurs fan whose voice came through loud and clear on TNT's broadcast.
We think the screamer is one of the people sitting directly behind announcers Dick Stockton and Chris Webber, because her voice can only be heard on the center channel of the 5.1 surround mix. (We've isolated that channel in the above "highlight" reel.) TNT uses a standard mix of patching the announcers to the center channel, court microphones to the L and R channels, and crowd mics to the rear surrounds. Thus, we're pretty sure the screamer is one of these people:
If you recognize the voice or know anybody who was sitting near Stockton & Webber last night, let us know. We'd love to talk to the enthusiastic fan.
