Alabama High School Football Coaches Get Into Postgame Brawl
Alabama high school football coaches coming to blows after a game shouldn't be that surprising, considering how seriously Alabama takes football in general, but that doesn't make the incident any less ridiculous.
At the end of Friday's Walker-Cullman game—a 13-10 victory for Cullman—Cullman defensive coordinator Matt Hopper and a Walker coach were talking to each other when the Walker coach pushed Hopper and took a swing at him. The two wrestled to the ground before members of both teams intervened and surrounded them.
The identity of the Walker coach isn't known, but the Jasper Board of Education reportedly suspended Walker head coach John Holladay with pay on Saturday.
Alabama High School Athletic Association Executive Director Steve Savarese said Saturday that the incident will be investigated.
