Amazon.com Has Your Potentially Flawed Merchandise
As many of you have pointed out to us today, Amazon.com made a bit of a mistake this morning, sending out an email to pretty much anyone who has ever bought anything sports-related on the site imploring them to be "the first to see our selection of NCAA championship products."
The subject line to the email is the classic, "[placeholder for winning team] Wins The NCAA Tournament!" (Incidentally, this very line is currently written in Microsoft Word on Jay Marriotti's computer right now.) It also didn't help that the line 'UCLA WINS!" was so proudly displayed either. If UCLA loses, we'd call this the Curse Of Amazon, but: a) we have enough curses out there as is, and b) any curse of an Amazon would have to involved blowdarts, spears and huge ladies snapping necks. You figured that.
We think they might be onto something, though, on the whole. We would love to buy a hat just like the one in the picture, and then just put our own logo on there. Or even our own face. Blank sports champion merchandise; there's money there, we bet.
By the way, if you want to know what really happens to those Losing Team Championship jerseys, this classic Slate story explains it well. We still can't believe an enterprising Haitian doesn't put some of them on eBay, but hey, what do we know?
