American Judo Fighter Kicked Out Of Olympics For "Inadvertently" Eating Food "Baked With Marijuana"
Nick Delpopolo, an American judo fighter, is the first U.S. athlete to test positive for a banned substance at this year's Olympics. He competed last week and placed seventh in his division, but he has now been disqualified. The 23-year-old issued a statement of apology today that went something like this:
My positive test was caused by my inadvertent consumption of food that I did not realize had been baked with marijuana, before I left for the Olympic Games.
Which is pretty much the lamest excuse ever (at least Michael Phelps owned up to it once upon a time). So what's Nick gonna do now? "I would also like to try and get a job wherever; it wouldn't matter to me," he said on his Olympic bio page. He should be fine, so long as he doesn't trip and fall mouth-first onto a plate of "special" baked goods.
