Arcade Fire Performs At Cubs Game; Fans Politely Pretend To Know Who They Are
In an epic collision of hipster idolatry and baseball, two members of the Montreal-based indie band Arcade Fire led "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" during the seventh inning stretch at Wrigley Field this weekend.
Marika Anthony-Shaw and William Butler led the fans in song, and although it was by no means a feat of musical genius, they succeeded in getting the Cubs fans into it — despite absolutely nobody recognizing who Arcade Fire actually is. Some things may never change. But hey, maybe antics like this will help to bring in the Chicago hipster audience from Wicker Park and Bucktown and get attendance back up at Cubs games, which is the lowest it's been since 2002.
