Barry Returns, Giants Fans Remember What Life's Like
This image was lost some time after publication. Well, our boy Barry Bonds returned to the Giants last night, and other than the blantantly terrible spelling on the front of his jersey (come on, people; G-I-A-N-T-S, it ain't that hard!), it was an smashing success all around. Bonds almost homered, the crowd showered him with nothing but California Love ("got the hootchie screamin'!") and the Giants even, hey, won the game. The Giants bloggers are all very excited, because the only thing worth watching at SBC Park so far this season has been the guys in their little boats playing Game Boys and freezing.
The real question, of course, is how Bonds will be received in places other than his hometown; his first road series is in Washington next week, with Colorado and San Diego after that. Because, uh, if you've read a newspaper at all in the last 12 months, well, you might find it somewhat surprising that people were cheering the man. We suspect it might have been a bit different had Bonds not been excused from testifying before Congress in March. How'd that happen again, anyway?
