Betsson is an iGaming company from Sweden, operating several online casinos, sportsbooks, and poker platforms. The company acquired Rhino Entertainment Group earlier this year, which operates Casino Days. With this acquisition, Betsson launched this platform in Alberta, which opened up its regulated iGaming market on July 13th, 2026.

Casino Days goes live in Alberta

Casino Days has established a foothold in the Canadian market, going live in Ontario in 2022. This platform has earned industry recognition, receiving the eGaming Review (EGR) Rising Operator Award 2023. Casino Days is renowned for its robust selection of games from a variety of software providers. With 3+ years of experience in Ontario, there is some familiarity within the Canadian market.

The site is one of 20+ other platforms that went live immediately at launch in Alberta. Other online casinos include Golden Nugget Casino, Spin Casino, and Jackpot City.

Entering a brand-new market at launch provides Betsson with an opportunity to increase revenue through its newly acquired platform, Casino Days. With an already established presence in Ontario, the hope is that Casino Days can be successful in Canada’s second province with regulated iGaming.

With Casino Days, Betsson will attempt to compete with Betty Canada, which has shown significant growth in the Alberta market, becoming the top brand in the province. But with a population of over five million, the fourth-most in the country, Alberta is a large market with a lot of potential for other operators to gain market share and earn more revenue.

Robust Alberta iGaming market deters offshore gaming

By opening its doors to operators like Casino Days, the Alberta iGaming market is attempting to deter participation in offshore platforms, which don’t have the same consumer safeguards in place, as set forth by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC). Since Alberta residents have so many options to choose from, they’re less likely to join unregulated platforms.

Not only does this protect users from payment disputes and privacy concerns while providing responsible gaming tools, but it also benefits the province, as 20% of net iGaming revenue will go to government services. Additionally, two percent of revenue will go towards First Nations initiatives and social responsibility programs.

With Casino Days and multiple other platforms, the tools are in place for Alberta iGaming to be successful and sustainable.
