Blogdom's Best: Boston Red Sox

More than any other sport, baseball lends itself to individual blog obsession. Every Major League Baseball team has several blogs obsessed with chronicling the ins-and-outs of everything. Deadspin salutes these modem-addled souls and proudly presents Blogdom's Best, given to the most outstanding blog for each team. As you might suspect, no baseball team has a larger blog presence than the Boston Red Sox. So much so that you have to carefully point out what a blog is, and what isn't. Boston Dirt Dogs, as good as it at driving the news and as popular and fun as it is, doesn't count; neither does Sons Of Sam Horn. And we LOVE Yanksfan vs. Soxfan — they have a great feature today contrasting the two teams' excuses — but since they're about two teams rather than one, we can't pick them either. (But fans of both teams should check them out if they haven't already.) So, now that we've eliminated some ... we're down to about 100 Red Sox blogs. Sheesh. The three we've chosen are no insult to those not chosen; these are just the best of the best. So don't hate us. We're very nice people.

3. Fire Brand of the American League. With any other team, this would be the No. 1 blog; unfortunately, we had to eliminate dozens of great Red Sox blogs just to pick this one. Run by Evan Brunell — who actually is president of the excellent Most Valuable Network of sports sites — this has perspective and weight to it that goes against the stereotype of the screaming Red Sox fan. 2. Surviving Grady. Like seemingly every Red Sox blog out there last year, this one was turned into a book. Fortunately, this one was one of the great ones, sarcastic, funny and always on point. 1. Soxaholix. We loved these guys before The Wall Street Journal found out about them, and we always will. The history of the Red Sox, one panel at a time.
