Blogdom's Best: Chicago Bears
This image was lost some time after publication. It might not — yet — have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NFL and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. To this end, Deadspin salutes these modem-addled souls and proudly presents Blogdom's Best, given to the most outstanding blog for each NFL team. There are fewer than there are for baseball, but they're out there, if you look. If you would like to nominate a blog (yours, even) for selection, just let us know at [email protected]. Today: The Chicago Bears.
OK, we all know that the Chicago Bears are the best team in the history of the planet. But gentlemen, let me ask you this: What if Da Bears were all 14 inches tall, you know, about so high? Now, what's your score of today's game?
Carl Wollarski: Against Da Giants? Bill Swerski: Yes, give 'em a handicap. Carl Wollarski: Bears 18, Giants 10. And that would finally be a good game. Pat Arnold: Yeah, it would be a good game. Mini Bears 24, Giants 14. Todd O'Connor: What about Ditka? Would he be mini, too? Bill Swerski: No, he would be full-grown. Todd O'Connor: Oh, then, uh.. Mini Bears 31, Giants 7. About Bears fans, nothing more need be said than the famous Saturday Night Live sketch. Except maybe this: "I love Brian Piccolo. And I'd like all of you to love him too." Now, on to the blogs. Hey, where's that bratwurst we ordered? 3. Da Bears Blog. A couple of Bears fans who believe. 'Nuff said. 2. Monsters of the Midway. "I am sick of this team, sick of the coaching staff, sick of the same damned offensive coordinator that the Bears have had for the last 5 years, sick of hearing about how great the defense is, sick of talking about winning the division and mostly, I m sick of all this clamoring for Benson. ... Now go out and enjoy your weekend or watch a different game ... anything but this garbage." 1. Windy City Gridiron. One of our favorite blogs of any team, in any sport. On top of all the Bears issues, including the prospect of Terrell Owens joining the team, which, surprisingly, many Bears fans seem to be for.
