Carlos Carrasco Is An Artist, And This Baseball In The Image Of José Ramírez Is His Masterpiece
Via [object Object] “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”
Great Michelangelo quote, best used to describe the stunning baseball art created by Carlos Carrasco during this afternoon’s Dodgers-Cleveland game.
With only the tools available to him in the dugout, Carrasco transformed an ordinary baseball into a lovely piece in the image of teammate José Ramírez. Look at the care with which he sculpts it (not dissimilar to to the care with which he swaddles his infant son), the gentle intensity with which he creates a sculpture so intimate!
Behold the final product in all its glory. (Alternate angles available here, if you are so inclined, including credit for the assistants to the artist—Corey Kluber and Trevor Bauer.)
Ramírez went 3-for-5 today. He feels seen.
