Carmelo Anthony And Kevin Garnett Got Into Some Kind Of Scrum In The Belly Of Madison Square Garden
The Boston Celtics beat the Knicks in Madison Square Garden Monday night 102-96 and it sounds like Carmelo was pissed. The hostility began when Garnett and Anthony got into it a little bit in the fourth quarter during a dead-ball period that resulted in double technicals for the two. At the end of the game, Anthony reportedly stalked off the court, and made a beeline for the Celtics locker room.
According to one of the sources with knowledge of the incident, Anthony approached the Celtics locker room and was screaming. It is unclear if his ire at the time was directed at Garnett.
He also waited around the Boston team bus—which you can see below. It's bizarre.
At some point after the video cuts off, it appears, Carmelo eventually found Garnett and although no punches were thrown he reportedly approached Garnett and police and building security had to intervene. "It was like being in the school yard."
Carmelo did not speak to the media and Kevin Garnett is playing dumb. Doc Rivers sort of alluded to the whole thing, but he's still downplaying it. It's not clear exactly how things blew up like they did, but Amar'e Stoudemire seems to think it's related Kevin Garnett's trash talking.
"It was more just talk," he said. "More talk more than anything. Words are pretty sharp, so when you say certain things, it gets under your skin and it gets you a little angry. And that happens to the best of us. We've got to make sure that we keep our composure and see if we can beat a team like Boston."
And here's video of Carmelo keeping his composure, while standing outside the Celtics bus like a maniac.
