Dwight Howard Went To Disney World Anyway
The Magic were upset by Atlanta in the first round, but Dwight Howard, the broadest-shouldered 13-year-old trapped in a 25-year-old's body on planet earth, would not let it ruin his trip to Disney World last weekend. Until, at least, a few days later, when he found the time to call out the Orlando Sentinel for "tryna push [him] out" of the city and away from Chewbacca.
The Sentinel, we've since learned, is very upset that their columns are upsetting Howard [sic'd]:
On Monday night, Howard went on Twitter and indicated the Sentinel is trying run him out of town just like Shaquille O'Neal.
"Y does it seem like the writers of Orlando sentinel are tryna push me out of Orlando with dumb articles. It's annoying. Can I enjoy my summer and get ready for next season in Orlando. Pls. Same thing u guys did to Shaq. Smh"
Smh is Twitter language for "shaking my head."
Howard was referring in part to the aforementioned columns and in part to the that allows users to dress him in various NBA jerseys, like the Knicks or the Lakers, and also provides a terrifying image of him dressed as Juwanna Mann. Not quite forceful, but certainly bizarre.
"I'm not blaming the media," Howard tweeted on May 10. "I'm saying stop with the dumb articles. They don't make be decision of mine. I jus don't want Orlando fans to believe them. Cuz they don't know. I love my city."
So much, in fact, that he'll wear Mickey Mouse ears in public (Smh). Although that may have more to do with the fact that Howard is entering that awkward puberty phase where he wants to give the impression that he doesn't really care what people think of him. You remember the one.
Anyway, the real issue, from the Sentinel's perspective and from Magic fans' perspectives, is that Howard hasn't yet picked up the contract extension that the team easily extended a few weeks ago. GM Otis Smith says he has "a lot of faith" that Howard will return to Orlando, and a potential Kobe-Dwight combination in L.A. is enough to make everyone else in the league hope to god that he stays, too.
