Warriors Beat Cavs After Repeated No-Calls On Fouls Against LeBron James
A 31-point, 18-rebound game from Kevin Love went to waste as the Warriors beat Cleveland 99-92 thanks in part to officials refusing to call a foul on Kevin Durant as the Golden State star manhandled LeBron James in the final minute of the game.
Durant finished with 25 points and four fouls, though if even two thirds of the fouls he actually committed were called he’d have finished the game on the bench; we spoke with a former basketball referee (who also happens to be my dad) who provided the following analysis:
Lebron just got fouled three times on one drive (and lost the ball) and then the next time he got fouled twice and lost the ball. The first play Durant 1. reaching/holding foul, 2. blocking foul, 3. tripping foul.
You may blame the Cavs’ loss on the referees, but I’m going to blame it on Kyle Korver only taking three field goal attempts. The former ref we spoke with also asked if we noted our brief mention in this week’s; yes, we did.
