Figure Skating Is Happening! 

What a delightful coincidence: The World Figure Skating Championships are currently ongoing in Boston!

Look, I’m not going to pretend I understand the finer points of figure-skating; I’m from Georgia, where what little ice we’ve got is for putting in over-sugared tea, not dancing upon. But by God, I know pure artistry and athleticism when I see it. For instance, all these couples from the Free Dance Program portion of the competition.

Here we have Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani of the United States, doing something that really doesn’t look like it should work according to the laws of physics.

How many broken bones do you think France’s Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron amassed over their lifetimes, learning to do things like this?
