Former Expos Announcer Loses His Mind On Melky Cabrera Home Run
My French is a little rusty, but I think former Montreal Expos announcer Rodger Brulotte just sang "I love baseball and this Melky Cabrera guy almost as much as I love sucking down a nice burgundy and five million cigarettes. Good night, it is gone."
The Mets and Blue Jays played a two-game exhibition series at Montreal's Olympic Stadium, the former home the Expos, in an effort to lobby for a new team in the city. Earlier today, Melky Cabrera hit a two-run home run in the eighth that ended a scoreless tie. The Blue Jays held on and swept the series.
The fans were into it—almost 97,ooo showed up for the Friday and Saturday games, chanting "Let's go Expos" and "We want baseball"—and Brulotte was definitely into it.
