Hey, Let's Do It Here Next Time
This image was lost some time after publication. Are you ready to have the World Cup in the United States in four years? It could happen.
It appears that FIFA is concerned as to South Africa's ability to host the Cup in 2010 and could end up asking the United States to fill in.
There are long-standing doubts about whether stadiums can be built and modernised in time but there are even more serious concerns about South Africa's transport infrastructure and whether it will be able to cope with the tens of thousands of fans travelling between venues.
So, of course, when you're having trouble making sure your transport infrastructure and modernized stadiums are up to stuff, the U.S. is a logical bailout. In fact, it might just be best to have the U.S. host every four years. People will just love that.
