Jackasses Topple 200-Million-Year-Old Rock Formation
"Jackass" is a strong word. Watch the video and see if you don't think it's the only possible one.
A criminal investigation is under way after three men knocked over a "hoodoo" at Goblin Valley State Park in Utah, according to the The rock layer dates back to the Jurassic Period, and this formation lasted a good couple of epochs before being toppled with a holler. An official called it "highly, highly inappropriate," adding, "this is not what you do at state parks."
The criminal masterminds—Dave Hall, Dylan Taylor, and rock-pusher Glenn Taylor—might have gotten away with it if they hadn't posted video to Facebook and bragged about it. When told by a friend to take the video down or risk getting in trouble, Glenn Taylor wrote:
"I'll take my chances with the cops rather then my conscience after hearing a family was crushed to death by a rock I was prompted to move."
Park officials say you shouldn't topple the rocks. They'll fall on their own in a few more million years.
A park spokesman said the trio could face charges up to a second-class felony depending on the rock formation's value. Whatever it is, that inert lump of Entrada Sandstone is worth more than these three.
