Jewish Hockey Player Sues Anaheim Ducks Alleging Anti-Semitic Harassment

Jason Bailey signed a three-year contract with the Ducks organization in 2008. They assigned him to play for the minor league Bakersfield Condors where, he claimed in a lawsuit filed Tuesday, he "was subject to severe and/or pervasive harassment."
In addition to saying he was denied ice time for being Jewish, Bailey was "forced to endure a barrage of anti-Semitic, offensive and degrading verbal attacks regarding his Jewish faith" from the Condors' head coach, the complaint alleges.
The head coach degraded Bailey's faith and frequently commented about Jews as ones who "only care about money and who's who," the complaint goes on to say.
The minor league team's assistant head coach also harassed Bailey, the complaint alleges, and once approached him in the locker room and, in reference to his own Facebook page, said, "Oh, I got a friend request from a dirty Jew."
The coaches apologized, but Bailey's lawyer Keith Fink says that's not enough: "Instead of doing the right thing and disciplining those who (made the anti-Semitic comment) and firing them and treating Jason as any other player, those two guys are still coaches, and they sent him to Siberia." (Well, Ottawa.)
