Ah yes, the old 9-3 in the scorecard (or the incongruous "J. Beckett grounded out to right" in the play-by-play).


It's just the perfect series of events. A slow pitcher, a sharp line drive, Carlos Beltran playing shallow and with a strong arm. Beckett looked like he was running hard. It's not like the frustrated L.A. media would irrationally go go after their high-priced import with a penchant for slacking, as the season quickly slips away. They'd never accuse him of not hustling...right?
