Maryland Student Gets In Trouble For Showing His Ball So Hard University Pride
It's hard to blame this 12-year-old from Bel Air, Md., for wearing his Ball So Hard University sweatshirt to school earlier this week. BSHU is one of the more prestigious research institutions in the country, and either the kid has a sibling who goes there, or hopes to attend himself, or is just a big fan of BSHU's most famous alumnus, Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs.
Suggs, or "Sizzle from Ball So Hard University," as he introduced himself on a Sunday Night Football broadcast earlier this season, is a hero to a lot of kids in Maryland. But when this one decided to show his devotion by wearing the shirt to Southampton Middle School, an assistant principal told him he had to take it off, turn it inside out, or get sent home.
"It's so blatantly obvious that this sweatshirt is talking about the Ravens and playing so hard and putting your heart into it," Lasley said of his son's sweatshirt.
Lasley explained that since the term became popular, his son had wanted a shirt or hat with the phrase on it. Lasley said he recently purchased the sweatshirt for his son and the boy decided to wear it to school.
"He couldn't have been more excited about it," Lasley said.
When the 12-year-old was reprimanded, Lasley said, the boy wasn't sure what about his sweatshirt was objectionable.
The school has since reversed its position on Balling So Hard, so the child will be able to support his Ravens and ball as hard as he wants. Sometimes, justice gets done, and ballers get justice.
