Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel Voices Support For Players Going On Strike [UPDATE]
Hours after the athletes of color on Missouri’s football team announced they were going on strike until university president Tim Wolfe is removed from office, head coach Gary Pinkel tweeted out this photo of the team and its coaches with a message of united support for the work stoppage.
The Tigers football players are suspending participation in all football-related activities in an attempt to force the university president out of office in light of several months of racist acts perpetrated on the Columbia campus, a controversy that has led one student to engage in a hunger strike until Wolfe either resigns or is fired.
The students are protesting Missouri administrators’ lack of response, best illustrated in this video of Wolfe:
Update (2:41 p.m.): Wolfe has responded, and will not quit.
