NCAA Takes A Good Long Look At Its Rules, Decides To Maybe Allow Student-Athletes To Put Spread On Their Bagels
The NCAA has released their proposed legislation for 2011-2012, a list of bylaw additions and alterations proposed by member conferences. Some are important; others are less so, and they'll all be voted on at the Board of Directors meeting next year, and could go into effect next summer.
In between a rule change that would allow schools to provide transportation to a teammates' funeral, and a rule change that would allow non-scholarship athletes to receive some financial aid, is...something else. I'm screenshotting it in its entirety, because this is a masterpiece of a metaphor for why the NCAA is irretrievably broken. A reasonable amendment to a ludicrous rule is made ludicrous just by the necessity of its existence.
God bless you for righting this wrong, Big East. Those bagels up top look fucking delicious.
