Word was circulating yesterday that Nina Totenberg, the 68-year-old legal-affairs reporter for NPR and the doyenne of the Supreme Court press corps, had gotten tossed out of the Roger Clemens trial for eating potato chips. At least, that's what we heard from a tipster.

We emailed Totenberg to see if it was true.

"Not true," she wrote back.

Alrighty! Around this time, our tipster retracted the potato-chips tip; turns out it was a cell phone—forbidden in the courtroom—that got her the boot. We followed up with Totenberg.

"I wasn't removed," she wrote back.

We'll take her at her word.
