Penn State's D.J. Newbill Ejected For Shoving Kendrick Nunn In Neck
Plays like this always make me think about the existence of a textbook for broadcasters. "It's always the second guy who gets caught" would be in Chapter 1, along with a section on Aikmanisms like "...and I'm not so sure they didn't do just that, Joe." Anyway, D.J. Newbill was the second guy here—this was also his second scuffle with an Illini today—and was ejected.
After a slashing layup, Nunn ran right into Newbill, pushing his arms out and Newbill turned around, responding with a violent shove to the back of Nunn's neck or head. The benches nearly cleared, coaches scampered and lots of posturing followed. Order was eventually restored and the game proceeded, minus the presence of Newbill.
