Sage Northcutt Wants To See You Rip An Apple

Other people who work at this website have previously expressed their fascination with UFC fighter Sage Northcutt. It wasn’t until today, when I saw the video embedded below, that I began to understand that fixation:

I don’t know, man, but something about the way Northcutt delivers, “Hey what’s up guys! Who can rip an apple apart?” has got me feeling unsettled. I imagine I’ll be feeling this way a lot once robots start passing the Turing test.

Anyway, yes, several Deadspin staffers attempted to rip an apple apart after seeing this video. Results ranged from “I was trying to twist it and it kind of imploded” to “My fingers dug into it and it fell apart.” It’s been a productive day.
