Skip Bayless: High School Sports Hero
Earlier today via Twitter, Skip Bayless was talking about his favorite "hometown" team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Specifically, Skip was discussing how to fix the Oklahoma City Thunder. Long story short, he wants to play Russell Westbrook on the wing and make James Harden the point guard.
After likely taking some ribbing from his followers, Skip fought back the only way he knows how. The old "I have credibility on this issue because of [one example of this issue]" defense. You know, like "I'm not racist because I have a friend (or babysitter) who's black." Or "I'm not homophobic—my cousin's gay."
This time, however it was just weird. Skip, out of nowhere, rattled off a few tweets talking about his glory days as a high school basketball player presumably as some sort of proof that he knows what he's talking about.
Imagine, if you will, you are listening to sports talk radio (or a television show that encourages lively debate) and some lunatic calls in with a crazy theory, or starts aggressively attacking the host for every point he or she made. Host: "Ok, smart guy, why should I believe you?" Crazy insane lunatic caller: "Why?! I'll tell you why. In high school I pla-" Host: [Hangs up]
