The BBC Olympic Promo Trailer Is Pretty Awesome, Inevitably Controversial
We're sure NBC has something grandiose up its sleeve as it prepares to air the London Olympics starting in a few weeks, but tonight official UK broadcaster BBC premiered its CGI-animated Olympic promo and, we have to say, it's impressive.
Teased during Sunday's broadcast of the Euro 2012 final, the nearly three-minute-long trailer aired tonight between the end of The One Show and the beginning of EastEnders and captures the characteristic Olympic events alongside themes and environments Brits would recognize—along with some events you might not, like BMX.
Which, of course, means there's some controversy. After Sunday's minute-long teaser trailer, some questioned the similarity of the spot to an earlier one made for Lloyd's. The always-reliable Daily Mail breaks down the similarities in a piece today, though other than the fact both use computer animation we don't see much in common. [BBC]
