Two Umpires Suspended After Teaming Up To Make Worst Call In History
source: Sky Sports A Mexican League game between the Diablos Rojos del México and the Algodoneros de Union Laguna on July 18 produced one of the most shocking umpiring errors in the history of the game. In the top of the first inning, umpires Ulises Domínguez Solís and Rodolfo Pastrana Tejeda somehow both determined that this was a check swing:
What the hell happened here! I get that momentary lapses in judgment and brain locks are things that occur in all professions, but how did two guys manage to completely fall down on the job at the same time? If this was an attempt at fixing the game, it was the most obvious fix of all time.
After the game, the league announced that both umpires have been suspended for the rest of the 2018 season. If they are eventually allowed to return to their jobs, let’s hope they are at least put on separate crews.
