Wisconsin Student Paper Names, Shames Students Re-Selling Rose Bowl Tickets
The Badger Herald is pissed off, and taking names. Well, listing names. The names of UW students who snapped up coveted Rose Bowl tickets, and are attempting to scalp them. As strong proponents of public shaming, we stand with you, Badger Herald.
5800 student tickets went on sale last night after the BCS matchups were announced, and sold out within 20 minutes. Almost immediately, they started popping up on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist, for as much as three times the face value of $150. The paper, which is completely independent of the university, lists the names of 35 students trying to make a buck. And their list is growing.
Truly, there is a special place in Hell for people who buy Rose Bowl tickets with the sole intention of profiting from them. It is entirely unfair to those who actually love this football team and were counting on a cheap face value ticket in order to make the trip to Pasadena an economic reality.
We'll keep printing names of those we catch on Facebook marketplace. And feel free to send an email to [email protected] if you know of anybody whose name should be added to the list - particularly the 100 people who have already made a listing on Craigslist.
The worst thing about big bowl games is the lack of school spirit, since so few actual students make it to the games. It makes it even worse to scalp the few tickets available to the school, so these treasonous badgers deserve to be saddled with the Scarlet W.
