The yearly report from Forbes on "The Business Of Baseball" is out, and it's a doozy. Turns out that the Yankees have actually become the first billion-dollar franchise, valued at $1.026 billion.
The next four teams are the Red Sox, the Mets, the Dodgers and the Cubs. No real surprise, though finding the Nationals and the Cardinals next is a bit of one. Other weird anomalies:
• The Royals are worth more than the A's, which makes us think even we could make money off the Royals.
• The White Sox are worth less than the Orioles, which makes us think the same thing about Baltimore.
• On the whole, team values are actually up 15 percent. Imagine if we had even MORE steroids!
