Brazilian Goalie Linked With Alleged Murder, Sneijder’s Staying Put
This post, written by Josh Burt, is republished with permission from The Spoiler. Go there often if you like soccer stuff.
Wesley Sneijder probably won't thank The Spoiler for the headline — no one really likes their name featured in a bold sentence about murder. And to make this clear, the only thing that links the two stories is that they're both featured in today's press.
As far as anyone knows, Wesley Sneijder hasn't even knowingly murdered an ant. There is no link. Put it out of your mind. Is it out of your mind now? Good. Let's all just move on.
Anyway, about that alleged murder. According to reports from the BBC, Bruno Fernandes — Flamengo's goalie — has been linked with the disappearance of a lady called Eliza Samudio, amidst growing whispers that she was first abducted, and then murdered.
It's obviously causing quite a stir in sunny Brazil, with Fernandes insisting that he had nothing to do with it. He said this during a radio appearance earlier in the week:
"In the future I'll be able to laugh at all this."
Quite.
As for Wesley Sneijder, according to today's Daily Mail, he has raised a finger to the growing maelstrom of speculation about whether or not he'll be packing his tiny little suitcases and moving to Manchester — where the skies are as bright and vivid as a crow's overcoat — by insisting that he's already found his dream home:
"I am staying. I will play for Inter Milan next season."
"My heart is in Milan.
In other less important news, everyone seems to fancy a crack at buying Shaun Wright-Phillips on the cheap. And, by "everyone", The Spoiler obviously means Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool.
Whilst in easily-digested two/three-word stories:
Barcelona, screwed.
Clichy, Juventus.
Ferguson, Forlan, text.
That is all.
