U.S. Open Ref Is Charged With Murdering Her Husband With A Coffee Mug

Lois Goodman is a 70-year-old tennis official. Earlier today, she was getting set to officiate U.S. Open qualifying matches out in Queens, but instead she was rerouted to a Manhattan jail. She's charged with bludgeoning her 80-year-old husband to death:

Goodman is alleged to have bludgeoned her husband with a coffee mug in their home in the Woodland Hills section of Los Angeles in April, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Alan Goodman's April 17 death was originally ruled suspicious by police, but investigators could not determine if foul play was involved, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Originally, Goodman claimed that he had fallen down the stairs. She's been officiating tennis matches for over 30 years and owned an auto parts store with her late husband for decades.
