Jerry Jones Grounds Dez Bryant
Dez Bryant can't go to strip clubs anymore and has to be driven to practice and games by some omnipresent security force. He also has a midnight curfew, unless he tells the Cowboys that he will not be abiding the midnight curfew. With advance notice, of course.
Jerry Jones, the intoxicating siren to the NFL's troublemakers, is putting his foot down.
"He's just got to come on, step up and accept responsibility, and I think he can get there. I'm demanding that he work through it. He must do it or we can't count on him."
"Oh yeah, very much willing to do anything he can to help himself and help the team," Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said of Bryant. "He's very open-minded and cooperative. He's doing the right things by his teammates and everybody is counting on him."
Jerry Jones said the Cowboys have placed restrictions on other players previously and when asked if this is the strictest of rules for a player he said, "No this is (not) the strictest at all."
Jerry Jones is the parent who punishes his kid by sternly taking away his Playstation for a week, while leaving the Xbox 360 and Wii untouched. Which is to say, this is stupid. Dez Bryant is a grown man (sort of). If you don't want him screwing up, fine him. Or cut him. Don't babysit him.
The problem is, Dez Bryant is good at catching footballs (sometimes). Dez Bryant knows it. Jerry Jones knows it. And Dez Bryant knows Jerry Jones knows it. So he's not getting cut and there is absolutely no way this doesn't end with Dez Bryant driving home drunk from a strip club after midnight—without calling ahead!—with a dead security guard in his trunk at some point this season.
