Adam Silver Will Not Discipline Donald Sterling Yet
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver finally spoke about the racist remarks made by Donald Sterling and uncovered by TMZ, but he is not prepared to discuss or levy any sanctions against Sterling. He did note that Sterling has agreed not to attend the playoff game in Golden State tomorrow. The league will investigate the matter ("extraordinarily quickly") and use any and all of the broad powers available under the league's constitution and bylaws.
With respect to LeBron's comments, Silver was asked point blank if he agreed with the league's biggest star and he completely sidestepped the question. He also indicated that he spoke to Chris Paul and Doc Rivers and a player boycott by the Clippers was not a concern.
This is exactly what we should have expected.
