Marvin Harrison Is Sick Of Terrell Owens's "Bullshit" Whining About The Hall Of Fame
Terrell Owens is still talking about being snubbed for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and he’s got a point. He should be a shoo-in, but the HOF election procedures are messed up, and there’s a wide receiver logjam at the top that’s going to make guys like Owens wait longer than they should. Owens said part of the issue is that he was splitting votes with the likes of Marvin Harrison, but Harrison, who did make it in on his first second try, said that’s not his problem. He said it in the strongest terms, too.
Harrison rarely gives interviews, so just the existence of this quote is a story in itself, even before you get to the content. Speaking on Talk of Fame Radio, Harrison said:
“I’m not concerned about, you know, T.O. Not one bit. I was concerned about myself. I wasn’t worried about splitting the vote with anyone. That was it.
“The person who was supposed to get in got in. And that was me. If he didn’t get in, that’s his problem. He can talk all that other bullshit like he’s been doing. That’s on him. But I’m in. My jacket is gold. I will look in the rear view for nobody.
“So he can get his ass in whenever he gets in … if he gets in. If he doesn’t get in too bad. The hell with him.”
Owens will get in, perhaps as soon as next year. It isn’t fair that he’s not in already, especially when the scuttlebutt has it that he’s being punished for being being disruptive in the locker room and unfriendly to the media. Meanwhile Harrison maybe probably killed a guy.
