Taking The Train To The Super Bowl Is A Disaster
This is what happens when you don't let people drive to a football game. Thousands are trying to get to MetLife Stadium for the Super Bowl and since the NFL made less than half the total parking spaces available for the game, won't let you walk to the game and will turn around most cabs, the only practical options left are bus and train. The train's not looking so good.
The main transfer hub is Secaucus and it is getting hammered with people. Passengers remained stationary in line for almost an hour. Others reported being trapped down in the station with no way out, only to scramble out an emergency exit by the tracks. It became such a fiasco that by 2:45 p.m., they just stopped screening people. So if you see something, say something, guys. It's 50 degrees and the heat's on. This is some straight-up Alighieri shit.
"New Jersey sucks," some people shouted as they came off the New York trains. Many had peeled off coats and other outer layers of clothing, and were drenched in sweat from the high temperatures in the packed train cars.
People related stories of passengers passing out and paramedics being called in to help.
Security officers at first were checking every bag, but by 2:45 p.m., more than three hours before the game, checkpoints were overwhelmed by the crowds and people they were pouring through with little or no examination of what was on their person or what they were carrying.
