Wild End-Game Sequence Features Two Buzzer-Beaters That Don't Count, And One That Does
Nebraska high school basketball here, with the highlight of the weekend.
Waverly and Blair were tied at 50 with seconds remaining in their Friday night game. Blair inbounded the ball and sank what looked like a three-quarter-court shot, but refs ruled the player had been fouled before shooting. On the ensuing inbounds, Waverly stole the ball and sank a half-court shot—but Waverly had called a timeout before shooting.
Finally, almost anticlimactically, Waverly’s Merrick Deger banked in a regular old three-pointer for the win at the buzzer. Waverly wins, 53-50.
