A Freaking Baby Has Witnessed Two Perfect Games This Season
The kid's name is Bode Dockal and he was at Safeco Field for both Phil Humber's perfect game for the White Sox back in April and more recently, Felix Hernandez's gem earlier this week against the Rays.
Bode's dad Paul is a White Sox fan living in Seattle, so he got tickets to the April 21 game and took his son to his first ever baseball game. Boom. Perfect game. Pretty awesome story, right? Then Bode's uncle came into town this week and wanted to catch a game at Safeco. Well, thought Paul, there's an afternoon game (early bedtime, etc.) on Wednesday and Felix Hernandez is scheduled to pitch. Sounds like a decent encore. Boom. Another perfect game.
One gets the feeling that Bode's luck has run out, but one would have felt the same way after the first perfect game, really. But approaching it from a different perspective, Bode Dockal has only seen two perfect games in one year. The Tampa Bays Rays have seen three perfect games (and one more no-hitter) in four years, so, he still might have some catching up to do.
