Alabama Football Staffer Fired For Playing "Take the Money and Run" Before Iron Bowl
The university announced that the part-time employee was fired for playing "unauthorized" music at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The unauthorized music also happened to be directed at Auburn quarterback Cam Newton.
The songs in question were "Take the Money and Run" by The Steve Miller Band and "Son of a Preacher Man" by Dusty Springfield. No, hopeful souls, it is no coincidence that Newton's father, Cecil, is a pastor who is accused of soliciting $180,000 from Mississippi State for his son's services.
For those monitoring last laugh lines, of course, the undefeated Tigers took down Alabama, 28-27. Newton tossed three TDs and ran in another. Alabama staffer terminated over Iron Bowl song choice [Tuscaloosa News]
