Now UNC's Basketball Team Is Declining Their Invitation To Meet With Basketball-Colored President
The Trump White House is being denied visits from basketball teams left and right, these days. First the great doofus had to hastily pretend to disinvite the NBA champion Golden State Warriors, and now the 2017 NCAA champion North Carolina men’s basketball team will be declining their own invitation. From a :
North Carolina’s 2017 national championship men’s basketball team will not visit the White House, a team spokesman said on Saturday, though the Tar Heels were invited to visit, as is the custom for teams that win college men’s basketball and football national championships.
The issue, in this case, is apparently scheduling—the Tar Heels are unavailable to visit the White House during one of President Trump’s rare, brief breaks from playing golf in nearby Sterling, Virginia:
Steve Kirschner, the UNC men’s basketball team spokesman, said the Trump White House did invite UNC, but that the university and the White House couldn’t agree on a date.
“We couldn’t find a date that worked for both parties,” he said. “We tried about eight or nine dates and between they couldn’t work out that date, we couldn’t work out that date, so – we would have liked to have gone, but not going.”
It can be tough to make time to shake hands with the President of the United States when you already made plans to, umm, do laundry that day.
