Ben Vereen's National Anthem Performance Was A Mess

So, this is weird. Veteran actor Ben Vereen is probably best known to 30-somethings for two roles: 1.) Mayor Ben, a half-man, half-leopard mayor on the live-action acid trip called Zoobilee Zoo and, 2.) a small part as Will Smith's dad in The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.

You've probably recently seen a clip of him; James Avery, the actor who played Uncle Phil, passed away today and Vereen is in one of the most famous scenes of the show along with Avery and Smith. It's an obvious scene to share. All of that is very sad and very weird. Like this performance Vereen turned in of "The Star Spangled Banner" before the Fiesta Bowl.
