Best March Madness Saturday Picks: Arkansas vs. High Point, Vanderbilt ML
The Arkansas Razorbacks play at one of the fastest paces in the NCAA, and the High Point Panthers are going to try to match that. These teams rank 20th and 44th in the country in pace, respectively. They also rank 18th and 24th in offensive pace.
Arkansas features one of the best offenses in the NCAA, and they don’t truly struggle anywhere. They have several players who can score at all levels, including Darius Acuff, who is one of the best scorers in the NCAA.
On the other side, High Point is a team that wins with their offense, not their defense. They rank 144th in the country in defensive efficiency (108.1) via KenPom. They also struggle with offensive rebounds, leading to easier second-chance points.
This is an extremely high total, but Arkansas ranks second in the country in points (90.1) per game on the season. We just saw them post 97 points against Hawaii, who features a solid defense. They’re getting an elite matchup against a team that is going to try to run with them, and they have the potential to post 100+ points in this matchup.

The Vanderbilt Commodores continue to be one of the most undervalued teams in the NCAA. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are a solid squad on the other side, but they seem to be a bit overvalued at the moment.
These teams are both good at defending what their opponents are going to want to do. Vanderbilt doesn’t give up a ton of threes, and they’re extremely willing to foul. Nebraska isn’t an aggressive team, struggling to draw fouls, and they score at one of the highest rates from beyond the arc. On the other side, Nebraska forces their opponents to beat them from deep, and that isn’t exactly where Vanderbilt wants to score.
The big difference is that Vanderbilt is more than willing to score their points from deep. Although it isn’t where they’re at their most efficient, they do find plenty of points from deep. They also have several options that can knock down open three-pointers.
Ultimately, I believe Vanderbilt is going to be able to adjust more easily than Nebraska is in this type of matchup. We’re essentially getting a pick ‘em, and I’m backing the more talented roster.
