Bobby Valentine Has Left The People Of Stamford To Protect Themselves From Hurricane Irene
Bobby Valentine is public-safety director in the fine city of Stamford, Conn. Bobby Valentine is also an ESPN booth guy for MLB games. All of which is to say that Bobby Valentine will be commentating on the Angels/Rangers game in Arlington, Texas on Sunday night when Hurricane Irene stomps all over the fine city of Stamford, Conn.
Asked after the news conference about whether he would be in the city Sunday night during the hurricane, Valentine said: "That's a stupid question. I just changed my flight."
Valentine spent much of Friday in meetings discussing the emergency response to Hurricane Irene with city officials, recommending the city set up a Twitter account to provide residents with real-time updates on preparations and announcements. He did not return messages left Friday.
[Mayor Michael] Pavia said city officials will have a direct line to Valentine during the 8 p.m. game.
Oh thank goodness for that.
