Brewers: We're Sorry Ryan Braun Cheated, Here's A Hot Dog
Last week, Brewers owner Mark Attanasio said the Brewers were "working on a way to give back to the fans for going through this," with "this" being Ryan Braun's newfound pariah status. They announced the plans today. Free tickets? Braun jersey trade-ins? How about: ten bucks!
They're calling it the Fans Eat Free promotion, but it's more than just concessions. Every fan who attends a Brewers game in August will receive a $10 voucher good for food, merchandise, or future tickets.
“This has been a challenging season for all of us, but the one thing that has never wavered has been the tremendous support we have received from fans who love the Brewers,” the Brewers Mark Attanasio said. “We wanted to do something meaningful to show our appreciation, and we will strive to provide the best fan experience possible.”
The Brewers say they expect to spend $3.6 million on the promotion, which is a little optimistic. (Given current attendance figures, that would require every single fan to use all 10 dollars of each voucher, not put it toward something costing more than $10, and not use it on something they wouldn't have bought without the discount.) But it's a nice gesture from a team that didn't have to do anything; for all Braun's drawing power over the past few years, the Brewers are still on the hook for $113 million through 2020. Anyone want to chip in and buy Mark Attanasio a soda?
