British "Glamour Girl" Skier Experiences The Agony Of Bone-Breaking Defeat

In her final training session before the first women's downhill race of the season in Alberta, Britain's Chemmy Alcott took what's being called a "horrific high-speed crash" in which horrific means open fractures of her right tibia and fibula.


Observers winced at the sight of the glamour girl being wrapped in a blanket and hoisted to safety from the slopes. ... Alcott later tweeted: "Insane that something that brings you so much pleasure can also bring so much pain.'

Alcott is the British number one skier, an all-rounder who competes in downhill, super G, combined and slalom events. She has been in three Winter Olympics and has won five British titles. [ Daily Mail] (H/T Tomuban)
