Chip Kelly Still Doesn't Call "Shitty Plays" On Purpose
Following the Eagles 30-24 win over the Lions on Sunday Chip Kelly was asked if he intentionally called shitty plays to throw off the Lions. His answer was noncommittal.
On Thursday, though, he was much more definitive. Kelly was asked about lulling teams into a false sense of security with his play calling and in answering, he specifically said he was not smart enough to bait teams with shitty plays in the hopes of setting up a Rocky-is-actually-left-handed kind of advantage later.
It's a little strange that this reporter would press him on the strategy again, but the Eagles did struggle to get anything going in the first half Sunday—all 34 points came in the second half, 28 in the fourth quarter—so he probably just wanted to double check.
