Corey Dickerson Boned Himself Out Of An Inside-The-Park Home Run
With his team down 6-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning of yesterday's game against the Brewers, Corey Dickerson stepped to the plate and ripped a pitch into the right-field wall. With the ball caroming sharply into no-man's land, it looked like Dickerson had himself a guaranteed triple and a possible homer. A bad throw made the latter a near inevitability, but then things went hilariously wrong.
As much as this play sucked for Dickerson, I enjoyed it because I'll always have a soft spot for baseball players' particular tendency toward being giant klutzes. It's nice knowing that even finely tuned athletes sometimes fall the hell down for no reason at all.
